Scope and Objectives

The Ivan Franko National University of Lviv invites you to the International scientific conference “The 6th European Conference on Luminescence Detectors and Transformers of Ionizing Radiation” in Lviv, Ukraine, June 19 – 23, 2006. The 6th Conference continues the tradition of the international conference series that was initiated in Latvia (Riga, 1991), Estonia (Tallinn, 1994), Poland (Ustron, 1997) and again Latvia (Riga, 2000). The last LUMDETR Conference was held in Prague, Czech Republic, 2003.

The Conference is aimed at the research on energy transfer and migration in wide-gap solids. It is focused on the development and characterization of material properties used in active optical materials as scintillators, detectors, lasers, luminophors and different optoelectronic devices. The Conference scope covers also novel phenomena related to the material properties in restricted geometries and nano-scales with the aim to encourage such studies also in the field of scintillator and phosphor materials.

The Conference objective is to use the achievements of luminescent material science for solving the environmental and health protection problems, for creation of new devices needed in nuclear medicine (radiology, dosimetry, radiotherapy, tomography), environmental monitoring, industrial restructuring and civil conversion, involving the specialists in the biomedical and luminescent material areas to discuss these issues during the Conference event.
